Lovely Ghosts...Verse XIII

Verse XIII

Today I took a walk late in the afternoon and lo and behold, I saw Spirit sitting in the park. Slowly, I approached her and took in her beauty. I could smell the strawberry-vanilla fragrance of her hair and the hint of cherry blossom perfuming her skin. She turned around as if she could feel me; smell me even. I then followed her over to the merry-go-round and sat next to the reason for my existence. I watched her cry as she was probably remembering the last time that we sat here together. That night I had hurt Spirit and Spirit had hurt me. We had a mental conversation about merry-go-rounds and left each others presence for a long time. I remember it as if it were yesterday…

Soul

Merry-Go-Round

He said I love you
She asked him why
He said I need you
She asked him why

He said he was sorry
She said he should be
He said they were forever
She said that they could be

He said I love you
She asked him why
He said I need you
She asked him why

He said that he would never hurt her
She said that she knew that he wouldn’t
He said that he would never forsake her
She said that she knew that he couldn’t

He said I love you
She asked him why
He said I need you
She asked him why

He asked if she had been faithful
She said that he had his nerve
He asked if there was someone else
She said that it’s time that justice was served

She said that his lack of attention had made her hot
And that he had catapulted a catastrophe that couldn’t be stopped
She said that most of the time she felt all alone
She said that although they had a house, they’ve never really had a home
She said she thought that he would change once he had grown
But now he was reaping the seeds that he had sown
She said never in a million years would she have expected to roam
She said her once soft heart was now a pillar of stone
He started to moan
Then…

She said I love you
He asked her why
She said I need you
He asked her why

Se said it wasn’t her fault
He said that he knew as much
She said that they’ve grown apart
He said that he could tell by her touch

She said I love you
He asked her why
She said I need you
He asked her why

She said that she understood his hurt
He said that he understood her pain
She said that she wanted it to work
He said that he is going insane

She said I love you
He asked her why
She said I need you
He asked her why
